Slipped on our stone stairs yesterday and now have a massive bruise on the left side of my back. Thankfully, ribs not cracked. Worse, I've had to give up booze due to liver options.

On the other hand, it's been a nice relaxing day. Our usual run up to France for KFC. Tomorrow I cook full Christmas dinner as whole family (7 adults, 3 kids) coming over.

The drive to Sussex and back was uneventful; quieter roads than usual but a higher proportion of idiots.

Dinner was uninspiring but edible, which is generally how my cooking turns out.

BP had many garages open so petrol was easily procured even though I had more in the tank than I thought so could have managed if not.

Ouch! I tend to find it's the muscles pulled out of kilter that hurt the most after I've had an unscheduled lie down.

Christmas has been OK. Dinner was excellent, as always

Haven’t had much this evening - mainly Roses and Quality Street, crisps, and peanuts. And a few sausage rolls - Waitrose ones I think they were, and pretty nice

I head home tomorrow, the plan being to go via Sainsbury’s to see if there are heavily-reduced pigs in blankets and the like. There’s one here on the route home and I’m gambling on it not being mad busy if I get there reasonably early. But I’ve just remembered that the trollies have to be unchained with a pound coin, so I’ll have to try to remember to swap two 50ps for one before I leave as that’s all I have in change. Or I suppose I could just get what’ll fit in a basket - I don’t really need much, just a few bits to tide me over the weekend and any meaty stuff that's going cheap

They don’t do that with the trolleys at home. Not sure why they feel it’s necessary here in the commuter belt yet not in the East Midlands. Maybe we’re more trustworthy up there

          Goodnight all

              Morning all

Dark, dry. Currently 4 degrees ('feels like' 1) with a high of 6 expected. Barometer steady at 1029 mBar.

              Sunrise 08:07; Sunset 15:57 GMT

I am at Heathrow airport, awaiting my flight to Glasgow where I will stay until next year. The sun has recently ris but I am not near a window so can't comment on the cloud cover. I suspect there's not much.

Boarding starts in 20 mins, I hope my bacon roll turns up soon.

                Morning denizens

Fairly clear skies but not a warm start again: the 2°C “feels like” -3°, though it’ll manage to get to 6° briefly before sunset - well, that's down here; at home, it’ll get there just after lunch and stay there all afternoon. So I should probably go home! The barometers, here, are up at 1026/1034mB

My BiL is just about to bring me a coffee and once that’s been drunk, and everybody else has got up so I can say goodbye to them, I shall head for home

                  Morning.

                  Friday apparently.

                  Dry.

                  Sunny.

                  Blue sky.

Cold in here at 12.4 deg, 11.5 in the kitchen, 6 in the leanto.

1024.5 mBar, 30.25 in Hg, 768.4 Torr, 14.86 psi, (up from 1023 last night), 60% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 8th of March 2020 AndyGarbs, Brillo, DaveB, and scruff popped in, whilst LM was disappointed to find a series she'd just started watching only had One Season, whereas NF explained those irritating Bluray discs that don't let the player remember wtf you were when you pressed STOP.

Walk (towpath, unabbreviated), Gnoll (unabbreviated) walked in the sunshine. Warm it isn't.

Leat between the 4th pond and the 2nd/3rd pond has had a landslip: only just still in place & dodgy to get past.

Horsies in the middle of Neath near the Castle. Tallyho & all that.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: Jeeves or something. TWATO. <click> Apparently the Orange Moron is bombing someone else now.

                    Home again!

The journey back wasn’t too bad. Sainsbury’s down there was a bit disappointing on the leftovers front, but I got some pigs in blankets which I’m going to cook in the air fryer for lunch. I was also able to get a few bottles of Old Hooky, brewed at the Hook Norton Brewery in Oxfordshire, a short distance from Rollright Stones. For some reason the various Sainsburys up here don’t stock it

Clear blue sky here, but not as warm as the forecast reckoned it would be by this time

Lunch, then, has been pigs in blankets in soft white finger rolls
