    Morning.

Wednesday. Tuesday apparently. It just feels like Wednesday.

    Dry.

    Blue sky with high cloud.

Cool in here at 21.7 deg, 22 in the kitchen, 21 in the leanto.

    1007.5 mBar, 29.75 in Hg, 755.69 Torr, 14.61 psi, (down from 1011 last night), 70% RH(Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 7th of February 2020 WTFH was snowed in in Memphis & WFH(otel), LM was looking for a recipe for her Nan's pink iced cake, I related the list of animals caught on the security camera (back when it worked), NF had a poor night's sleep disturbed by odd dreams, and Brillo popped in.

Walk (different, along canal tow path) walked. 38 trees down in the canal between Tonna gas works & Neath. They'll never get that boat up & down ever again. Oh. And a trampoline.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: my tinnitus. Which is louder today. Drugs of hallucination: the brilliant idea of The War on Drugs* and classing such drugs as Class 1 thusly stopping any clinical investigations.

*Another brilliant idea from the people who thought the 18th Ammendment was A Good Idea. .

Freecell score: 88%, running average: 83%.

Freecell score: 91%, running average: 83%.

Sky Arts: Discovering Mervyn LeRoy. No. I'd never heard of him either, though I seem to have watched a number of his pictures & been aware of others.

    Tea: soup etc.

    Entertainment: PM.

Repaire Shoppe: Irish Railways signalling lamp. Trigger's Broom if I've ever seen one. Plus a dolls house and a diary from the 1940s Channel Islands.

NCIS: the one with the radioactive painting. And the late Mira Furlan.

Foyle's War S8 E1. "High Castle". Sadly there was no man in it.

      Morning denizens

There's some thin hazy cloud high in the sky to moderate the worst excesses of the sun, but I expect that'll burn off before too long. While it's here though, there's a very slight chance of some very light rain! I expect it'll only be a couple of minutes of drizzle if it happens. We're well into heatwave territory from today, with the current 21°C expected to climb to 30° by teatime. The barometers remain cautious, though, at 1004/1012mB

        Morning all

The occasional wisp wafts past but otherwise clear blue sky from my vantage point. Currently 23 degrees ('feels like' 25) with a high of 31 expected. Barometer down to 1014 mBar.

        Sunrise 05:42; Sunset 20:29 BST

Quiet day at the coalfaces today. A bit more laundry is being done. The kitchen rug needs a wash too. Need to see what bins get collected today. Forgot to put the garden waste out.

There were some tough questions too. I struggled to get anywhere with them. Good luck in your next round.

The cloud's broken up into small, scattered wisps high up but is still a bit more coherent nearer the horizon. From drawing lines on the map and vague conjectures, the cloudier bits may be over Rutland Water. I'm not going over there to check though

Ah, but there's a live (well, latest-from-satellites) "cloud" view in the app that I use for the rainfall radar! Looking on that, it doesn't let me zoom in very close, but it certainly seems as if there's cloud cover in that area, so that may be what I'm seeing from here

On checking the bins, I was pleased to see that not only were both the recycling and the food waste collected but they also picked up my garden waste that I'd forgotten to put out on the pavement. The collection engineer took those few extra steps to pick it up.

Laundry is out in the back garden. It's a bit warm out there so I was pleased to come back indoors. Apparently it's 30 degrees at the moment.

                Lunch: a pork pie

Only 27°C here so far, but still climbing. The air conditioner is at work making things tolerable in the living room

Unfortunately, I'm dealing with various bits of cleaning and finding somewhere else for things to go in the kitchen this afternoon, and its influence doesn't reach that far. I could trundle it round there, but I'll treat the heat as a reason to take frequent breaks instead

SWW have finished the work they started on Sunday, and my neighbours can now get out past our house, rather than a 2 mile diversion.
Today's filling in the hole involved:
                  1. Transit with workers and a whacker on the trailer.
                  2. Lorry with gravel/sand and a grabber
                  3. Transit with others on it (no idea what they were doing)

After about 2 hours, the hole was filled in and a new cover installed for the stop valve (the previous stop valve was the cause of the leak, and that was replaced on Sunday).
They cleared off and half an hour later the asphalt team turned up and levelled it off with the road. (one transit with trailer and a small roller)
Took them about 20 minutes to do their bit. They left, but all the signs and barriers remained up.

Half an hour after that, another transit turned up. They picked up the signs.
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

More stuff done in the kitchen, including giving the air fryer the most thorough external cleaning it's had since it was bought, a little over four years ago. And then the wall behind it, which as expected had become a bit grease-stained; the tiles wiped down OK, but I'll need to do something about the grout

It's now moving down to the end of that counter where it'll be better ventilated and can also be pulled away from the wall a bit when in use. I may even move it over to the cooker side, where the extractor hood has a chance of doing something about it, but I'll need to rearrange a bunch of other things over there first so it can reach a plug

Still, it feels like I'm getting somewhere with it all
