Given the general state of affairs, tonight seemed like a good time to rewatch Civil War (2024). That's the way to do it!

    Goodnight all

      Morning.

      Friday.

      Dry.

      Wanly sunny.

Blue sky in a few parts.

Cool in here at 20.7 deg, 21.5 in the kitchen, 20 in the leanto, 17 outside.

1022.5 mBar, 30.2 in Hg, 766.94 Torr, 14.83 psi, (down from 1023 last night), 63% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 29th of January 2020 there was much discussion of Teletext stuff, very expensive Grundig video recorders (the one that still remains upstairs), Brillo popped in, WTFH was told to take the dog for a longer walk, LondonManc popped in, and xogg celebrated the suspension of the end of the BBC Red Button.

This morning's odd dream before waking involved some book or other that I'd acquired, trying to find out more details of the original owner. Probably inspired by The Abandoned Places thing on FB.

Freecell score: 67%, running average: 83%. Really really not in the zone this morning.

Lunch (early due to above): brunch.

Entertainment: Sarah Dunant waffling on about some rich woman in the Renaissance, much like she's done all week.

Minor potching in the garage: last of the biscuit tin sorted, like. I suppose I could now spent some hours sorting stuff into metric & BA should the fancy take me.

Entertainment: The green crap waffling on about nukes, TWATO, the thing about what might have happened if WSC had won in 1945: this last managed to send me to sleep. Twice. Which the previous non speculative bits hadn't.

4 lawns duly mown. Knackered now. Managed to avoid the pile of dog crap, didn't manage to avoid the cat crap. Avoided all the orchids. Compost heap now very full. Her next door wandered up their garden path. I made some jocular remark with no reply.

Tea: Mr Brains faggots with peas etc. Nice enough.

      Entertainment: PM.

      More potching in the garage.

Ben Fogle: new lives in the wild: the Goddard family and their mobile home on a croft in the middle of nowhere on Rum: 3 years later they're back on the mainland. Stone me. The Good Life is hard work. Who'd have thunk? Particularly on an island in the Atlantic where gales blow 90% of the time. Keeps the wind turbine turning though. Just as well with 6 hours of daylight in the winter.

      Dalgliesh S2 E5, E6. "The murder room".

It'll be owned by a leasing co. nobody in their right mind buys tesla's

That's assuming they've got something for me to do, of course. A few ideas in the pipeline, it seems. With luck it'll be like September 2022 when the thing I transferred to ended up being delayed until February 2023. And of course the whole thing is somewhat contingent on what they decide about the working-in-the-office stuff

I'll think of you when i'm slaving over a hot keyboard

            Morning denizens

Lots of high, white, fluffy bits today, leading to the sun coming and going as the gaps drift by. Quite breezy too. Warm though, being 19°C ("feels like" 16°) with an expected high of 25°, albeit briefly, this afternoon. The barometers are trivially down at 1015/1023mB

So, the person who bought the iPhone SE off me on Sunday night messaged me yesterday evening complaining that it hadn't arrived, although she had a link to the tracking, just like I had, in the same way that eBay had told her to check it. I sent her a screenshot of the tracking.

                It arrived this morning.

Next message was to say that she didn't have a lightning cable and could charge it, so she'd have to go and buy one.

Then the next message was to ask if there was a sim card in it.

I politely explained that it used to have a sim card in it which was linked to my phone number. She has now let me know that she will have to go and buy a sim for it.

^^ eBay buyers can be very special.

                  Morning Afternoon all

Cloudy with a light breeze. Currently 23 degrees with a high of 26 expected. Barometer down to 1027 mBar.

                  Sunrise 04:51; Sunset 21:20 BST

Uneventful day so far. Nothing worthy of note has occurred.

Lunch: sliced turkey ("formed, cooked, and roasted") in a wholemeal bap with a bag of plain crisps

Much of the morning has been spent on Google Maps and things linked therefrom, looking at "aparthotels" (terrible word) in the centre of Liverpool. Many seem to be of dubious merit, but there's one that is probably OK. Most importantly, it has parking that isn't just a reduced rate at a nearby multi-storey NCP. There's also a family-run café a couple of minutes away round the corner that isn't either part of a chain or pretending to be Italian, which gets rave reviews for its full English breakfast.

I almost got to the point of booking for a few days in the second week of August when I remembered that I decided recently that I want to go up there when the leaves are turning, as the cemetery where our parents (plus extended maternal family) now reside contains numerous mature trees, so it'll look really nice come autumn. So I shan't bother going up there in summer, when it's going to be hot and touristy, and will instead take some more time off in late September or October when it'll probably be raining all the time instead, as it should be
