    ^^ om

    Morning all

Clear blue sky, not a wisp to be seen from my vantage point. Currently 3 degrees with a high of 13 expected. Barometer down to 1027 mBar.

    Sunrise 06:40; Sunset 17:47*

Yea olde jalopy needed quite a bit of work doing but thankfully some of it can wait. The service (including new spark plugs) was done. Two tyres needed on the front - they were an advisory on the MOT so not a surprise. The reason for the air conditioning not working was because the clutch that attaches to the compressor was rattling around the under tray. This explains some of the rather odd noises I'd been hearing. Waiting on a call back from a local air conditioning specialist, who the garage recommended, for a quote to repair.

Other jobs that need to be done within the next 4-6 months: brake discs and pads on the front, offside rear link arm, nearside front wheel bearing. I'll probably do those before the next MOT to reduce the number of advisories.

Other jobs that need to be done "at some point": steering rack. It has some play apparently but isn't about to fall off.

She is 21 this year, so all the mechanical bits are bound to start falling apart. Still cheaper to repair rather than get a new car.

*I forgot to put in the sunrise and sunset times yesterday, so thought I'd look it up online as my weather app doesn't retain such things. Completely different times across multiple websites! Evidently all using a slightly different position to take the measurement from.

I see there's now "Vintage" scrambled maps, using old maps from New York and London.

I recommend https://www.timeanddate.com/sun/ which allows you to specify a location

Ooh, sounds like fun! I wonder if the amount of time I spend on the National Library of Scotland's historic maps website will stand me in good stead

Another day down, though sadly without any interesting opportunities to dig through stack dumps

And it's Shrove Tuesday, so pancake mix has been prepared according to the recipe on the BBC Good Food website that I have to look up again every year, and is now resting in the fridge

Tea has, inevitably, been pancakes, sugar and lemon style

And I had a choux bun as well

Tonight's telly was yet another new Traffic Cops. There's still no end to this series, it seems

And in the Renaissance, tonight's life story was of Michelangelo. He lived through very turbulent times; all he really wanted to do was make sculptures, but he kept being harried from pillar to post by patrons noble and papal, and made to do paintings instead

Wednesday tomorrow, which is my last working day this week. About time too

                    Goodnight all

                      Morning denizens

Another sunny start out, albeit with some more cloud to make it a bit scenic. The temperatures are creeping slowly upwards this week: currently 3°C (though it supposedly "feels like" -1°) with an expected high of 13°. The barometers aren't obviously plummeting but are down again to 1009/1018mB
