I haven't renewed the insurance on mother's place. If someone comes in and nicks all her crap, they'll be doing me a favour.Originally posted by zeitghost View PostTrying to get house insurance.

I did finally sell the chintzy tea/coffee set. £2.46 which I felt bad about - not because I wanted lots of dosh, but I thought how upset mother would have been at me selling it. However, when the lad came to collect it he said he is getting married in August and they want to have a pretty tea set on each table at the reception. His fiancée loves that stuff, so they will be keeping some of the tea sets. Any they don't keep will go to the charity shop. So nice that it's going to get a bit of an outing. Made me feel a bit better about it all.Comment

Nope. Not judging by the name anyway.Originally posted by WTFH View PostDo they mean "was zero-rated for VAT"?
(if they are from Cognizant/Wipro/other Indian company)
Still not quite sure how any of the suggestions fit into the rest of the context, but I will muddle on regardless.Comment

I'm now covered for £100k of contents.
I don't think there's much in there more valuable than my Miele Washing Machine.
And you'd need to be very strong indeed to nick that.

I feel the same way about all the wardrobes and such like, some of which were bought by the ZeitGrandparents back when money was really tight.Originally posted by mudskipper View PostI did finally sell the chintzy tea/coffee set. £2.46 which I felt bad about - not because I wanted lots of dosh, but I thought how upset mother would have been at me selling it. And, of course, the early 1950s wardrobes purchased by the ZeitParents.
None of which have any value other than memories.Comment
