    Morning.

    Monday.

    Dry.

    Grey.

Cool in here at 20.6 deg, 21.5 in the kitchen, 20 in the leanto.

1015 mBar, 29.97 in Hg, 761.3 Torr, 14.72 psi, (up from 1014 last night), 66% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 4th of February 2020 LM had the sad news of the passing of her Nan. I, NF, wattaj, DaveB, scruff, and BR14 gave our condolences.

Shopping trip to Morrisons done dusted washed dried sanitised & put away.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: R4 waffling on about early photography which was as dangerous as making felt hats.

    Y&Y <click>

Discovered last night that the then current pair of jeans had split the seat in the usual place. Am I remarkably well endowed or what? Fortunately sufficient stock exists to avoid going shopping for a new pair. Even found a pair of "slim fit" M&S jeans. They went on ok, but I couldn't sit down whilst wearing them without gelding myself & getting them back off again was entertaining. Fortunately there were some regular fit jeans available (3 pairs of such in fact).

Judging by the endless bollox on the wireless that Engerland seems to have won something or other. It's no fecking wonder the Celtic Fringe hates 'em so much.

    Picked more blackberries.

More potching in the garage: located a box full of 2200uF and 4700uF capacitors, with a few other values thrown in for good measure: all out of the skip at Wolsey Comcare back in the day. I ought to sell it all on ebay.

Following which: more gardening: stone me those brambles grow quickly: the greenhouse sorted out so the next bonfire can happen with nice dry stuff to burn.

The other thing that grows like Topsy is convolvulus. On the plus side it has pretty flowers & no thorns.

Tea: chicken in white sauce etc. Nice enough & easier to get down than when it's with rice.

Entertainment: PM until <click> due to Engerland.

Book. J. H. Plumb is not impressed with Churchill as an historian. .

    Thing about abandoned Irish railways.

Singapore: end of empire Thing about ketamine & why it's a fecking good idea to avoid it like the plague.

Shed & Buried: the only reason this is on is because there's a Dutton B on it: a flying pig, this one with a 1600 x flow with dual sidedraft webers.

No Skinwalker. Human: or how we killed the Neanderthals off.

Lunch: leftover pork cutlet in a wholemeal bap with apple sauce

Lots of meetings this afternoon, and for the rest of the week as well. The team I'm joining need to get me up to speed on a load of stuff, and the dev that's been working on it is leaving in a couple of weeks

I haven't used the InstantPot™ in a while but it came to the fore tonight when making tea: beef & potato stew, incorporating Adnam's Southwold Bitter to gee up the gravy a bit, along with a thick crust off the sourdough loaf I made last week. Delicious!

Tonight's viewing was an episode of the not-on-the-motorway cops thing

And reading Careless People, I'm increasingly driven to conclude that Facebook's leadership need to be put on trial for crimes against humanity, and the site itself eradicated in some way that ensures it can never happen again

I finally remembered to bake a wholemeal loaf today! Seems to have turned out OK

Three more days! Which reminds me, I don't know if anybody's told the new team that I don't work on Fridays. I'd better let them know, in case the guy who's leaving was planning to tell me all the important stuff then

            Goodnight all

              Morning.

              Tuesday.

              Grey.

              Sunless.

              Drizzly.

              Wet.

Cool in here at 20.5 deg, 21.5 in the kitchen, 19.5 in the leanto.

1013 mBar, 29.91 in Hg, 759.8 Torr, 14.69 psi, (down from 1016 last night), 67% RH (Lidl electric).

For the 4th of Feb 2020: see above.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: the thing about photography.

              Rained quite heavily during lunch.

Word of the day: "velleity": encountered in one of the current books, along with "Gold Standard" and "General Strike", plus WSC as "Chancellor of the Exchequer", not to mention "Tonypandy" and "Llanelli" (or more likely "Llanelly").

More potching in the garage though this is rather more than minor involving electric drills and such like: transferred two nice mirror scaled voltmeters to appropriate plastic boxes so at least they'll be minorly useful rather than totally useless. The first one went well, cocked up the meter hole in the 2nd so lots of filing ensued. Turned out the range selector knob had not one but two tiny Allen key grubscrews which led to much cursing until I figured out WTF was going on. Sadly the Ikea Allen key wouldn't fit. . In fact, the only one that did was part of an Xcellite set that I nicked from 3M some 46 years ago. It comes in really handy now & again.

The moving iron ammeter with current transformer has migrated into another plastic box.

Dunno if it works yet since it needs connecting up.

              Tea: soup etc. Entertainment: PM.

Last 10 minutes of the Irish defunct railways thing since I forgot it was on. It's repeated at 01:00 to 01:30 but I don't think I'll bother.

Foyle's War S4 E4. Got to bounce them bombs.

Some noises from next door: maybe it was burglars.

Thing about the LeMans 24 hour: it just showed the deaths of 85 people.

                Morning denizens

Grey start out, and there's been rain overnight with more expected soon, after which it'll stop for the day - though it'll continue to be rainy the next week or so. It's 13°C and will only get to 19°, though the barometers are only a little bit down at 1007/1015mB

                  Morning all
Slept in to 6am, so haven't even managed 9,000 steps yet.
Overcast out, with possibly a few spots of rain.

                    Afternoon all, local time 1209

Sunny. Currently 23 degrees with a high of 31 expected. Barometer up to 1020 mBar.

                    Sunrise 07:09; Sunset 21:32 CEST

Last night I ended up much too cold on account of the air conditioning ignoring the temperature set and just relentlessly blasting out cold air. Turning it off results in the room heating up too much. So, either way, I've not slept well the past couple of nights which is not doing me any favours.

I think there's a blanket in the wardrobe which I might put on my side of the bed to see if that helps, as hiding under the dressing gown is ineffective.

                      Lunch: a Sainsbury's steak slice

Another busy morning of handover meetings, and more to come this afternoon
