The dental hygienist has done their thing!

I judged the journey across quite well: although I had to park round the corner and a few hundred yards away, I'd expected something of the kind on a Saturday, so I ended up walking in there about three minutes before the appointed time, and thus only had to wait for a minute or so after dealing with the receptionists.

After that, onwards to Big Sainsbury's, where the shopping has been done

And then home, where my favoured parking space was still free!

When I got back, the lawn was busy with the male blackbird from the hedge, various pigeons, and the magpie family all present and pecking around. It's the first time in a while that I've had a closeup look at the young magpies. From up here, they're only really distinguishable from the adults by size and behaviour. But down there, they definitely look like rather lanky teenagers

Lunch has been a fried thick-cut pork steak in a white bap

Very close here, though the rain that kept pestering me when I was out and about has stopped now

Blood has been donated. Birthday card and present procured. That's what I call a productive day.

The sun has come out, making it all feel rather humid.

Tea has been brought to me from Five Guys

Still feels pretty close here. There's some blue sky on the eastern horizon though

Lots of wildlife stuff as usual today, though still no Monkey Life. But chimps, gorillas, and a variety of monkeys made guest appearances in other programmes, and there were a lot of elephants too

Mind you, I missed some of what was on because of the dentistry and shopping. It's annoying when stuff happens on a Saturday

In The Corner That Held Them, the bishop has died. This might be good for the convent, as he'd rather taken against it, or it might not; we'll just have to wait and see

And for reasons I can't quite remember, I started writing an I Ching app the other day, and have made some progress on that

                Goodnight all

                  Morning.

                  Sunday.

                  Dry.

                  Blue sky in parts.

                  Sunny.

Coolish in here at 22 deg, 23 deg in the kitchen, 21.5 in the leanto.

Meanwhile on the 2nd of February 2020 I thought the two chunks of frozen pastry in the freezer should be used up: they're still there now, untouched in 5 years.

                  Raining.

                  Sunny.

                  Raining.

Entertainment: more of the 1945 election thing: this time Potsdam and nukes.

More gentle potching in the garage, during which it rained.

Now outside a nice mediocre cup of coffee.

                  Tea: beans on toast etc.

All about lighthouses and lighthouse keepers: Sule Skerry, North Ronaldsay, Skerryvore, The Flannan Isles (with a clip from his earlier programme about them). The support ships Polestar and Fingal*. Stone me, a hard way to make a living in those days.

Servicing lights on buoys looks like fun. .

                    Morning denizens

Grey day, with signs of some overnight rain having fallen. It's expected to start drizzling again in about twenty minutes, and this kind of behaviour will probably continue until lunchtime. It might get a little sunnier in the evening, though. It's currently 18°C and not expected to get any higher than 20°, and the barometers are down at 988/995mB
