    Morning.

    Sunday?

    Damp.

    Grey.

    Sunless.

    Dreary.

Cooler side of warm in here at 22.4 deg, 24 deg in the kitchen, 22 in the leanto, 18 outside.

1007 mBar, 29.74 in Hg, 755.3 Torr, 14.6 psi, (down from 1008 last night), 69% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 26thof January 2020, Brillo and BR14 popped in, whereas I watched Doctor Who (which might have had an actual story for that ep*), followed by Vera.

Odd dreams before waking involved some sort of lift shaft, working somewhere or other that felt a bit like Philips Semiconductors of yore, with curious flooding, and some electronic jiggery pokery, plus working unpaid overtime.

*It was the Doctor Who ep "Fugitive of the Judoon" which introduced Jo Martin as the Fugitive Doctor and Captain Jack made an appearance. So there was a story. Rather more story than recent offerings & no mistake.

Still 22.5 in here but the refreshing breeze is making things much more pleasant. There's even a hint of wan sunshine to brighten things up a bit.

    Sun's out, nice breeze.

Freecell score: 83%, running average: 82%. Started badly & stayed that way.

    Lunch: brunch.

    Entertainment: Q becoming C. <click>

TrueCrime: Close Calls on Camera: impressive car crash, lady attacked by cows, bomb disposal in Bermondsey: that went off with a bit of a bang: 250kg.

Gooseberries picked. Gooseberries stewed. Some gooseberries into the freezer unstewed.

Entertainment: French WWII thing. Who knew their rationing ended in 1949 whilst ours ended in 1954.

    Tea: beans on toast etc.

Entertainment: thing on R4 about Svalbard. No one was eaten by a bear in the making of this programme. Odd place for a coal mine but there you go.

    Book.

In the ennui of the evening decided to potch about with a couple of old wireless sets (Matsui from the mid 80s, LW, MW, AM, SW, and FM): one was terminally fecked, the processor being screwed in some odd way, whilst the other still seems to function as expected.

      Morning all

Blue sky with lumps of fluff. Currently 21 degrees ('feels like' 24) with a high of 26 expected. Barometer down to 1014 mBar.

      Sunrise 04:44; Sunset 21:23 BST

Surprised that I managed to sleep quite well considering how hot it was yesterday.

Off to see Mum today. Will see if she remembers phoning me twice yesterday with her claims that my brother is living in the loft, cooking food. She's also back into thinking that she can move to Woking and have her siblings look after her.

        Morning denizens

It's a sunny start though also with some clouds about. Quite windy, which will at least stir up the hot air left by the last few days. It's currently 19°C and aiming for a relatively restrained 23°, though it won't reach that for long so effectively 22°. The barometers are heading down at 1001/1008mB

            Lunch: bacon butties

This was the first use of the loaf I baked on Friday, and it's turned out much better

Though that reminds me that I could do with baking a wholemeal one today, or I won't be having any toast for breakfast tomorrow

                  Tea has been KFC leftovers

This was mainly because I couldn't be bothered to cook. Hot weather always seems to affect my appetite

Meanwhile, the wholemeal loaf has been sliced and seems to have turned out very well, as the white one did

Tonight's reading has been One Girl's War by Joan Miller, who was recruited by MI5 at the start of WWII and worked in the counter-subversion division, infiltrating far right groups and the like. She completed the book shortly before she died in 1984 and her daughter had it published in 1986. Naturally, Thatcher's government tried to ban it as they did with Spycatcher so it was published in Ireland and then the USA; mine is the American edition, and contains an afterword from the publisher with the title "Why Whitehall Wants to Ban This Book"

It's been very windy out all day, but it's either getting even windier or the wind has shifted round to the bedroom side of the flat, making the blind flap a lot

Monday again tomorrow. Soon be Thursday

                    Goodnight all

A bit of gardening done, then cleaned the windows, did a bit of eBay stuff, pulled a load of leeks which will end up in leek & cauliflower soup, caught up on gardener’s world from Friday, watched the foxes in the garden, (oh, I forgot, put the hedgehog restaurant on a paving slab because one of the foxes worked out how to dig the gravel to get to the food), took painkillers for my right shoulder (permanently buggered) and my left (overworked protecting the right), BP 126/78.
