    Morning all

Dull and cloudy but dry. Currently 17 degrees with a high of 22 expected. Barometer down to 1015 mBar.

    Sunrise 04:45; Sunset 21:17 BST

I am currently in the Lufthansa Senator Lounge in Heathrow's Terminal 2. Had a little bit of breakfast and am waiting for my plane to arrive, to take me to Frankfurt.

The breadmaker is finally in use!

I thought I'd have some nice, freshly-baked wholemeal bread for my butty at lunchtime. Then, after starting it, I realised there's a meeting which means I have to have lunch early, so the bread won't be ready in time. Ho hum

Lunch has been turkey sandwiches - white, for the reasons outlined above

And the bread has just finished!

It seems OK, though the top appears to have sunk a little at one end. The manual asserts that this could be due to poor quality flour, or too much water. I made it with a Sainsbury's wholemeal bread mix and used the amount of water specified on the packet, but maybe I need to experiment a little. Anyway, it seems generally fine

In my case it's largely because no one in their right mind wants what I used to do any more.

That's the way the cookie crumbles as the septics say, apparently, when they're not saying "Yippee ky yay, MoFo" should various Xmas documentaries be correct.

It's a nice sunny afternoon here, which is helpful as I just had to cycle round to the chemist's to pick up the monthly prescription. They had it ready this time, for a change

The bread has been sliced with the slicing machine. Examining the interior, I suspect that it hasn't risen quite as much as it could, though it's still perfectly fine - certainly for toast, which is what it'll primarily be used for. The manual suggests that, barring messing with other ingredients, this may be due to too little water. So next time I'll make it with either more water or less and see how it fares

Evening all, Bucharest calling, local time 2024

There's wisps and lumps of fluff but mostly clear sky. Humid. Currently 23 degrees ('feels like' 25) and the high was 25. Barometer at 1018 mBar.

Sunrise 05:31; Sunset 21:00 EEST (eastern European summer time, GMT+3)

Very pleasant journey had from Heathrow via Frankfurt. Didn't have much time to say hello at my intermediate stop or there would have been a lunchtime weather report too. Off out for dinner with HWMBO soon.

Wods of wonga are always welcome.

Tea has been chicken in red wine sauce with chips and peas

This was accompanied by a not-very-new but hitherto unseen episode of Police Interceptors

It was the first episode of the last series, and I noticed it was marked as unwatched. I vaguely remember it not having been available when the rest of the series unfolded. My theory continues to be that sometimes they can't show an episode at the same time as the others for legal reasons, so it suddenly turns up without fanfare months later

In Ludicrous, Musk pissed off the company that sold him cameras so they cut him off. Naturally, this was the time that he announced that "Full Self Driving" was here NOW! Though you can't use it… wait, that wasn't it, we made it better. No, still can't show it to you… and on and on until he just sort of stopped talking about it, maybe because he'd simultaneously made a complete pig's ear of setting up a new "fully automated" factory and they ended up having to build the cars by hand in a tent outside. I have no idea how this company has kept going
