    Morning denizens

Grey day, and apparently it's expected to continue so. Not unseasonably cold though, being 8°C already and expected to reach 15°. A bit of a breeze is expected to get up later. The barometers are down a touch more at 1010/1014mB

    Thursday!

      Morning all
Overcast and cool at 7C, but still a pleasant walk. No sign of rain, I even resorted to using mains water and a hose on the veg beds last night as the water butts are drying up.

        Morning.

        Thursday apparently.

        Dry.

        Sunny.

        Blue sky.

        Breezy.

Chilly in here at 16.2 deg, 17.5 in the kitchen, 15 in the leanto, 13 in the saltinghouse.

1017 mBar, 30.03 in Hg, 762.8 Torr, 14.75 psi, (unchanged), 62% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 15th of January 2020 it was mostly dry for my shopping trip & subsequent walk, while Brillo was still crook, NF finally researched how to change a wheel then couldn't get the wheel nuts undone, received some advice from BR14 and SimonMac was turning his son into a cyborg starting with an insulin pump.

        Washing frenzy in progress.

Freecell score: 100%, running average: 82%.

Walk (unabbreviated, alternate alternate route back) walked in the sunshine and cold breeze.

        Lunch: brunch.

Entertainment: Sliced Bread: lip balm with Dr Emma.

Shirts & cottons in off the line & iRoned: now airing upstairs.

Now outside a mug of mediocre coffee.

Next: more potching in the garage.

Doctor Who starts at 17:05 today: "The Ambassadors of Death".

Tea: beans on toast: forgot the eggs.

Entertainment: the above. Sky Arts Classic Movies: "Kind Hearts & Coronets".

Iolo Williams yng Nghymraeg wandering about looking at things. Mostly things whose populations are in crisis. Like the Large Miner Bee which has 15 nests left after 4 were washed away in a storm a year or so ago. 'Tis rather depressing in its way. All it needs is those begging ads to go with it and one would have to hide sharp objects.

        The Directors: Francis Ford Coppola.

          Lunch: a Sainsbury's steak slice

Still grey out. The gardener is mowing the lawns, and one of the magpies has just been down to the big one to check out whatever may have been revealed down among the roots

            Afternoon all

Sunny with lumps of fluff. Currently 15 degrees with a high of 16 expected. Barometer down to 1020 mBar.

            Sunrise 05:20; Sunset 20:36 BST

Busy day at the coalface again. Booked myself in for a haircut and to paint over the greys next week. Might go to the cinema today/tomorrow evening as I have free tickets to use up and there's a few good fillums out at the moment.

Tea has been BBQ spare ribs and chips

This was accompanied by the most recent episode of the emergency list thing

Busy day today. Some of that was related to work; but this morning I did the mundane laundry, and this afternoon I stripped the bed and left it to air, as well as putting the ribs on to cook slowly in a covered dish and a low oven

The bed has just been re-made, avoiding any unpleasantness later on

Early film night this week, due to the family gathering on Saturday, so tonight's major motion picture premiere was Longlegs (2024) which is partly FBI procedural, partly horror. It's pretty good; very gory in parts, so TW for that. Worth a watch if there's nothing else on - though when is that the case nowadays with all this newfangled Video On Demand?

And as the Papacy seems to have been in the news a lot lately, I thought I'd rewatch The Da Vinci Code (2006) to see if it's got any better since the last time. It hasn't; it's tripe. One thing I find particularly annoying is the character who's supposed to be a deeply knowledgeable antiquary who insists on saying dates like "325 Anno Domini" when, as any fule kno, it's "Anno Domini 325" meaning "In the year of Our Lord 325". It's BC that comes after the numbers, such as "123 before Christ". This, however, is not even the greatest of the film's many failings

Also, it turns out that isn't the one that's to do with the Papacy (or not directly) so now I'll have to watch the other two as well so I know which is

Speaking of the Papacy, I gather they didn't elect me this time. I'm quite glad of that; it would have been terribly inconvenient

                Goodnight all

                  Morning.

                  Friday apparently.

                  Dry.

                  Sunny.

                  Blue sky.

Chilly in here at 15.7 deg, 16 deg in the kitchen, 13.5 deg in the leanto.

1017 mBar, 30.03 in Hg, 762.8 Torr, 14.75 psi, (unchanged), 60% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 15th of January 2020 Greenflag had come along & changed the wheel on NF's Corolla, much advice was given on increasing the available torque on wheel braces through the use of scaffolding poles, and the inneresting fact that one of the rear hub nuts on the Ford Granada MkI & MkII was left hand thread, LM donated her redundant electronics to some charity or other, and Brillo popped in to declare he was equally mechanically inept.

Shopping trip to Morrisons done dusted washed dried sanitised & put away.

Walk (abbreviated) walked in the sunshine.

Met some people who were looking for waterfalls. We did not share a common language so things were a bit difficult. On top of which it's very dry and the two waterfalls I could think of are practically dry at the moment.

                  Lunch: brunch.

Entertainment: the bollox on R4 at 12:50. TWATO. Thing about autism at 13:45.

More potching in the garage. Getting a bit bored with this now.

                  Coffee.

                  More potching.

                  Tea: Brains faggots. Nice enough.

Entertainment: Doctor Who and the Ambassadors of Death 6 & &, Doctor Who: Inferno 1 & 2.

A Cold War of Spies on PBS. E4 HUAC.

                  Forgot about Abandoned Engineering.

A thing on BBC Alba about Yet Another Defunct Scottish Aluminium Smelter: Kinlochleven, though it lasted from 1909 to 2000, unlike Invergordon which lasted a mere 10 years or so.

Bit like the "sunrise" industries around here: 3M lasted 70 years, Siliconix about 20.

Sunny out, with just a few little wisps of high hazy stuff here and there. It's starting to get warmer too, being 14°C already with 18° on the cards. It'll be heading up into the twenties next week! The barometers are steady at 1010/1018mB
