Tea has been those homemade adana lamb kebabs, grilled, in a pitta bread with sweet chilli sauce; and fries

Very nice, those kebabs, but I think I might bump up the chilli level from the recipe's recommended amount next time I make them. I'm not one of those people who likes things insanely hot, but I think they could stand to have a little bit more of a kick to them

Lovely evening out, or at least it looks it from up here. Second day in a row that I've had every window in the flat open all day

Anyone see the Northern Lights? Apparently they should have been visible to most people across the UK this evening, assuming you're at a decent height and away from light pollution.

Didn't know to look, and north from my flat is through the rest of the block so I'd need augmented vision, or to stick my head out of the window. I even saw somebody's tweet earlier about heavy solar weather heading our way, but didn't think to keep an eye out

Tonight's major motion picture premiere was BlackBerry (2023) about the once-successful phone company, and showing the usual signs of maybe not being as closely based on the true story as an historian would like. Very entertaining though

And then a rewatch of Ex Machina (2014) because it's nice to be reminded that one day the machines will rise and destroy us all, which will save us the incessant bother of having to program them if they're to accomplish the most trivial of tasks

Finally, a couple more episodes of The Wire, moving along from S3 to S4 in the process

        Goodnight all

Currently trying to download photos from last night.

            Morning.

            Saturday.

            Dry.

            Sunny.

            High overcast.

Cool in here at 18.1 deg, 19.5 in the kitchen, 18 deg in the leanto.

1015 mBar, 29.98 in Hg, 761.54 Torr, 14.73 psi, (down from 1017 last night), 77% RH (GDR hair), 76% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 27th of September 2019 NF had remembered to start the WM he'd forgotten to start the day before, my WM was in use though drying stuff on the line looked unlikely, WTFH had been for a dry dog walk but the rain started before the hens & guinea fowl were fettled, my book of the then moment was "A Bright Shining Lie", a tale of corruption & incompetence during the Vietnam War (thank feck Wilson managed to keep us out of that debacle), whereas the Bus Pass frenzy had abated somewhat.

Shopping trip to Morrisons done dusted washed dried sanitised & put away.

Walk (unabbreviated) walked in the searing heat of noon.

            Lunch: scrambled egg etc.

Entertainment: 13 o'clock news. Bit of Any Questions with the usual lying politicos. Bit of NZ Highway Patrol (the one where the lady cop fills the radiator on an ute with her bottled fizzy water). Bit of ST VI, but it was after the assassination bit and the Shakespeare in the original Klingon quote so I turned it off.

            Tea: soup etc.

            Entertainment: PM.

Scotland Yard: "The Grand Junction Case (1961)": the one with the bits of body in the canal. Would have been handy had I know it started rather earlier than I expected.

Dixon of Dock Green S20 E16 "Sounds". A phone call to Dock Green is interrupted after 4 words, the hunt is on to find a lady & her little girl.

The Edgar Wallace Mystery Theatre: "Flat 2" with John Le Mesurier.

^^ I have strategically avoided all roles with 'manager' in the title for my entire career, for that very reason

                Morning all

Sunny with some high level hazy fluff. Currently 18 degrees with a high of 24 expected. Barometer down a touch to 1024 mBar.

No sign of the aurora borealis last night but there could well be another light show this evening / early Sunday day morning.

Today I'm going to see a flat that I think is set up to be an HMO but the agent says definitely not. Not enthused by it at all but this more about keeping up agent contacts to make sure I get viewings.

                  Morning denizens

Another bright day, though there's a very high, fine haze to moderate the glare of the sun's rays a little. This will also keep the temperature slightly in check, being 19°C now but only reaching 22° this afternoon, as opposed to yesterday's 23°. The barometers are slightly down but not to an extent that will make a difference, being 1010/1017mB

I'll keep an eye out tonight. I may even pop down the road to the park as that has a good, unobstructed view to the north and is very dark at night, which will presumably help if the aurora's a bit faint
