Pretty sure the Tenancy Deposit Protection regulations don't include any such provision

Somewhere on the gov.uk pages it says that if you tell them you're going to raise a dispute, they'll often pay you to save themselves the legal costs. It doesn't explain why they thought it was a good idea to implement a system where you have to do that to get your money back

I've told Savills the account was closed in September last year, so it's up to them to tell me what evidence they need to be happy the deposit is being returned correctly. They have 10 days to return the money on behalf of my ex landlady.

They use Tenancy Deposit Service to record the deposits so I've also contacted them asking if this is normal practice. As the dispute service is supposed to mediate when tenants and landlords fall out, I'm not sure what their scope is when it's the letting agency being rubbish after being told by the landlord to return the deposit in full.

IANAL but from what I've read, the basic principle is that it's the landlord's responsibility to ensure the deposit is returned, so they'd probably say it was still down to the landlord to cough up and sort it out with the letting agency.

The car earlier was a Range Rover Mk. III, which I think we can all agree is a Good Thing

Whilst dining, I watched some thing about motorway cops, as opposed to Highways Agency traffic officers

And then the opal hunters had their usual mix of mishaps and good fortune, followed by pound shop Oak Island, aka The Mystery of Blind Frog Ranch. Seems to me that the real mystery is why this programme was ever made

                  Goodnight all

Another grey start, so much better than that unpleasant heat recently. Currently a mere 14°C, an expected high of just 21°, and a chance of light rain shortly. Barometers are bouncing back though, at 1012/1019mB
