Another sunny start

It was supposedly 0°C out there half-an-hour ago, but now it's up to 2°, and there's no signs of frost on the roofs out the back even where the sun has yet to reach; 1022/1030mB, so still rising

Sunny and dry, blue sky. Currently 4 degrees with a forecast high of 12 this afternoon. Cloud cover expected to increase as the day progresses but any form of precipitation is unlikely. Barometer up to 1031 mBar. Solar noon will be at 13:01.

Tired today. Must be the shock of being back at work. Bins have been removed from the spot I trundled them to.

A workshop planned for this morning has been moved to tomorrow so that means I have no meetings today and can attend the Eurocontrol Innovation Hub event that's starting imminently

The missing dvd of "Escape from New York (1981)" was finally located in the last place I looked.

It was hidden in plain sight.

The greyness is lifting slightly with hints of blue therein.

Last night's curious dream involved a heretofore unknown ability of the "copy" command to generate video and audio files unbidden by any required parameters, whilst involving flattening bullets in a rather curious way by shooting them at the ground.

Lunch: the last of the Morrisons scotch eggs, Heinz lentil <pffft> soup with Morrisons sunflower and pumpkin seed bread, bramble jelly sandwich on same, red pippy corner yog (prises pip out of cavity in tooth), 0.91 pints of good Glengettie tea.

Just received a godbothering letter from some septic church or other addressed to the woman who left here 22 years ago.

It'll help the bonfire along next time.

Afternoon entertainment in the grey ennui of retirement: "The house on 92nd Street (1945, September)": the story of how dear old Mary and his Feebs discovered the Nazi spy ring around "Process 97" of the atom bomb project.

'Tis a pity Mary didn't pay more attention to the Red spies who were doing much the same sort of thing.

It was a quite reasonable film if you were able to ignore the bits about how wunnerful the Feebs were with their Great Leader Mary.

Tea: Tesco breaded haddock, some tinned fruit cocktail, a yog, 0.91 pints of good Glengettie tea.

Entertainment: a Traffic Cops ep where some oik has spent an hour driving around in Bradford after tooling it down the motorway at 150+ mph in a brand new Golf.

Well they won't need to run it in then, though the oil consumption may be inneresting.

Tudur Owen's TV Flashback wherein things made in Wales were represented.

Most of which are, of course, no longer made in Wales and probably haven't been for decades.

Such as the Gilburn car, a parts bin special.

Followed by, you guessed it: "Escape from New York (1981)".

Which was amusing enough in its way, with Kurt doing his Clint impression in contrast to his Duke Wayne impression in "Big Trouble in Little China".

Some time after getting home last night with the roast chicken, I started feeling really ropey. Turned out my internal temperature had fallen to 35C. Hot bath and a cup of tea later, and all restored. Very strange.

Been a hectic hour

First: walk briskly walked, green ring closed

And on the way I took a slight detour to the barbers' where I was able to get an appointment for a haircut a week on Thursday

And getting home, I quickly refried leftover beef chow mein from Saturday for lunch

I'll be glad to get back to work for a rest after that lot

Afternoon all

Freezing cold start this morning.

Now bright warm sunshine and blue skies.

Lunch was fennel and halloumi salad with celery, apple, walnuts and a pomegranate molasses dressing.

Day one of bathroom renovations underway. Main bathroom now stripped bare and assorted issues found.

Walls have no stud work in them, just two layers of plasterboard with a cardboard honeycomb filler between them so nothing to hang anything from. New wall now to be built.

Floor has been hacked about so much in the past, cuts made between joists rather than along them leaving boards unsupported at one end etc, that it's no longer sound enough to take tiles without it moving and flexing as you walk on it so needs new boards putting down.

Soil stack too far out from the wall so hadn't been attached properly, just wedged in place with a bit of timber and boxed in.

Ropey microbore pipework to the radiators is too delicate to move without draining the central heating and lifting more floors to get back to the junction with the main feed so rad has to stay where it is.

As the plumber commented, anything built post war is generally full of hidden crap and the crap gets worse the more recent it is.
