    Lunch was a portion of beef and 'shroom pie and some very good roast potatoes, even if I do say so myself.

    Made far too many tatties but they are good for snacking on.

    Managed to catch my hand on the oven shelf so that's now sore.

          Nipped up to the Amazon Locker; naturally, it started raining as I stepped out of the back door

          As I was crossing the garage forecourt, I saw a young woman go to the locker. As I was getting nearer, the appropriate compartment door swung open; one of the top ones. And then it became apparent that she wasn't tall enough to get the box out of there, even on tiptoe

          So I hoiked it out for her and handed it over; some small kitchen appliance like a toaster, at a guess

          I came back along the front, as there was a bunch of lads hanging around chatting at the end of the back alley and they'd already politely moved out of the way for me when I emerged, and I didn't see the need to disturb them again. This allowed me to observe that the Polish café is not only busy, to the extent possible with widely-spaced tables, but even has people waiting outside in the rain for a space to come free

            I should really thank NAT for reminding me I hadn't done it.

                  In the reading of my book, I was reminded of this remarkable machine:

                  Scammell Scarab - Wikipedia

                  The chap next door but one worked on the railway and I recall one of these delivering ?stonework/rubble? from some demolished bit of Victorian railway architecture so said chap could build a foundation for his garage.

                  It would have been sometime mid 60s I'd have thunk.

                  Said book also mentioned

                  Short Sperrin - Wikipedia

                  of which I'd never previously heard.

                  <hiatus>

                  Tea: Heinz tomato soup with a hint of chilli, Morrisons wholemeal sunflower and spelt bread, bramble jelly sandwich on same, 0.91 pints of good Glengettie tea.

                  I was contemplating a bonfire but I really can't be arsed.

                  The loan charge thing is on R4 again right now.
