There's the NZ motorway thing, the NZ highway thing, the Oz customs, and the NZ customs thing watched.

Funniest things were on the NZ customs: a gentleman, allegedly a Doctor of the head wobbling fraternity was accusing a Maori customs officer of racism for searching his bags, all because the "Doctor" had a bad leg & was rude to said customs officer when asked for his passport. It must be said that the "Doctor"'s leg showed few signs of disability as he was escorted out. Apparently the fact that they were both brown made it even worse since the honkies in front didn't get the same treatment.

This was exceeded by some Hungarian nutjob who failed to declare some sausage in his luggage & spent two hours arguing with the quarantine chap about whether or not he'd declared it and why he shouldn't be fined NZ$220 for the privilege.

This was exceeded in interest by the 1.2 tonnes of food removed from a modest yacht belonging to some dude named Larry Ellison.

Though the 70,000 cigarettes confiscated from the baggage of 3 Malaysian students was pretty funny.

I watched a bit of the NZ Highway Patrol thing while eating dinner. Not sure why, but today is one of those rare days when the signal is strong enough that I can get a number of Freeview channels that are usually too weak for the TV.

Just remember folks, don't drive too slowly in NZ and make sure a queue doesn't form behind you if you do.

Oh, and never cross the white line on the crown of the road.

And all speeds are shown in kph, so 62mph is the fastest you're likely to go without getting done for speeding.

An MOT is termed A Warrant of Fitness.

And if you're under 20, you're not allowed to drink anything alcoholic and drive, the limit being a nice round zero.

              Glad we've cleared that up.

Was quite disappointed that one of the slow drivers didn't try to bribe the cop.

That would have increased the entertainment value no end.

Good show, I appear to have not listened to the Beeb peering up its own arse on Broadcasting House.

              Excellent.

Next thing not to listen to is "The Archers".

The Grundys are in for a bit of a shock, not to mention Oliver.

                Morning denizens

Lots of grey cloud out there today, though there's the occasional spell of rather watery sunshine

                      It's very watery around here.

                      And sunless.

The murrain of beasts has returned.

However the ZeitSundayLunch consisted of roast heart and roast breast of lamb, both stuffed.

It was very nice & the gravy was epic in a really epic sort of way.

Followed by a Muller fruit corner (strawberry), BBE 13/07, as I discovered when I looked in the fridge yesterday.

It was in the very cold fridge so I assume it was ok.

The lady on Desert Island Discs today had worked with Fred the Shred before returning to Virgin money to work for the bearded wonder again.
