There's different types of cholesterol, increase your HDL, decrease your LDL.
Eat mackerel. It's good for you, it's full of HDL, it's British, and grilled with a bit of home made pesto, it's part of a nice meal.

I think the general lack of pork related items might put him off. Mackerel wrapped in bacon?

I ought to eat more oily fish, and this bacon-wrapping concept sounds like a step in the right direction

Not a bad option. The Parcel Yard in Kings Cross is actually quite decent as well - decent selection of beers although I don't know enough about Fuller's range to know which are theirs and which belong to others.
