The work to improve the motorway junction slowed things down to an unprecedented degree tonight. It would, quite literally, have been quicker to have come off the bypass, driven through the city centre, and out the other side; and probably used less petrol.
In fact, going to the Shell station up the road and paying whatever the premium over Sainsbury's prices may be would probably still have worked out cheaper than the prolonged crawl. Ho hum
