What I don't get is, if all these contractors are jumping ship why are we not seeing a glut of PS roles on jobserve or the like?

Because the PS are so confused with all of this they are too scared to take on anymore contractors. Why would they want to add to the number they are trying to sort out?Originally posted by Whorty View PostWhat I don't get is, if all these contractors are jumping ship why are we not seeing a glut of PS roles on jobserve or the like?
I imagine by around May/June there will be plenty of roles out there as projects and programmes are 6 months+ behind and ministers/senior directors are wondering why it hasn't been doneComment

Because almost all contractors are staying put. I'm the only one out of 10 leaving.Originally posted by Whorty View PostWhat I don't get is, if all these contractors are jumping ship why are we not seeing a glut of PS roles on jobserve or the like?Comment

Also, recruiting in the public sector takes a long time and those people haven't actually left yet. Ministers rarely get told the truth and they also don't care. Seriously.Comment

Having exactly the same thing. People were talking today about going away for a few weeks and coming back. Others are going to accept FTC roles slightly different to their current roles. I'm one of a small number who are leaving - I could easily get a FTC or perm role here, although only here since Jan. Switching ps clients and getting a new contract doing something different is my only plan at the moment - and even that sounds like there's still risk. It almost sounds as though anyone who's worked outside IR35 with the ps can never work with ANY ps client again, with inside IR35 or FTC, for fear of triggering the wrath of HMRC. Surely moving to a new gig in ps, probably inside based on qualifying the role with the HMRC tool, lessens the risk the article talks aboutOriginally posted by coolhandluke View PostBecause almost all contractors are staying put. Lots of PS roles are doing the rounds on emails.Originally posted by Whorty View PostWhat I don't get is, if all these contractors are jumping ship why are we not seeing a glut of PS roles on jobserve or the like?
Two roles that have been available for months - mainly because contractors keep leaving according to the agent I bothered speaking to last year - have suddenly have their rates increased by £200.
They are with our favourite department and involve skills that the private sector definitely want at the moment."You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JRComment

I was always planning on finishing my contracting this year, either to go PAYE and stick to the lower limits or even leave the country.
There has been a lot of mention of "red flags" on here recently.
Would closing LtdCo be a red flag just asking to be investigated (as though I'm trying to avoid this magic 6th April deadline), or would you suggest I leave it open for a while? I don't really want to be paying accountancy fees much more, although I'd probably have to keep paying the insurance for a few years?
I won't be working on any contract, public or private, come April (or being paid etc).Comment
