I suspected you would but that's not really the issue here.

I have an agreement that my invoice will be settled early.

How presumptuous of you... I have been considering this since the consultation. I've just been patiently waiting for the PS client to actually react and make some decisions. They are now doing so and jumping to the HMRC tune. I wouldn't call this being institutionalised. I'm just not that type of contractor who only cares about themselves. Maybe i should be but it's not the way i work. I doubt i'll be going into the private sector (or remaining in the PS) my plans B, C and D are for very different business ventures!

Assuming therefore that your advice is stay (if truly outside) or leave and nothing in the middle?

Finding a private gig is plans A through WTF. But I like to understand options.

Again, back to normative decision game theory.

I would have thought with the noise on retrospective legislation today I though it was pretty key.

          That's a win then.

Don't think I've ever said stay did I? Middle is so grey it's a nightmare, particularly with todays news so better to leave and just carry on being a contractor IMO. But it is IMO.

The institutionalized comment was frustration from a number of days of much of the same and not particularly aimed at you. I just don't get why people are putting so much focus and effort and willing to expose themselves to so much unknown risk when it's just a gig. It's for a temporary period, it will end and you will have to go find something else eventually. If anyone doesn't think about any of those things then you should rightly be caught by this legislation.

I get you. I suppose we all think our circumstances are unique and we are different to the herd of contracting sheep out there. I am even more nervous after the news today although i fully expected it.
I'm pretty re-focused that there is really only one option. My PS client agrees I can be deemed outside and gives me a contract accordingly (it's a totally new project) or i really only have 7 weeks left! Maybe a nice holiday somewhere in the sun is in order.....

                      The retrospective ir35 article ? Won't ir35 insurance cover that ?
