This sums them up for me, so your life has been saved by auto 999 call isn't the important thing here it's what MIGHT happen to the data.

EU to bug every car in UK with tracker chips - and Ministers admit they are powerless to stop the Big Brother technology | Mail Online

I don't know what's wrong with me, but the first thing I noticed was the 90's ambulance on their shifty graphic.

And those smart meter things in our homes. Sure EDF etc are secretly using it to track whatever you do.

PS Not entirely sure that's a joke. Governments, authorities and big companies always seem to misuse laws and technology for their own purposes. Applying anti-terrorism laws to things that are not terrorism, phone hacking, Google's collection of our data. Sure there are more examples if I could be arsed to look.

PPS And anyone who thinks the EU is totally benign, only looking to further the interests of its citizens and never to grow its own power and control has no grasp of human nature or history.

Also, I wonder how heavy the things are - Even if they're fairly light, that extra weight in hundreds of millions of cars throughout the EU will burn millions of tons more fuel.

So much for the EU's green agenda

edit: The scheme is obviously a stalking horse for a mileage tax - If in doubt, follow the money

If only people could be trusted we could live in such a wonderful world. The trouble is they are mostly *****.

              Every breath you take
              And every move you make
Every bond you break, every step you take
              I'll be watching you

              Every single day
              And every word you say
Every game you play, every night you stay
              I'll be watching you.......

Unfortunately, there is very little support for the UK position and no possibility of blocking this legislation' Robert Goodwill MP

Soon to be followed by an EU wide 'pay as you go' system of road tolls.

But looking on the bright side who is going to process all this data? Kerching!

              I love Big Brother.

We could use it to track when MF drives to the car shop - then tell him is is limited to 6 pies. Unless he cycles there to burn off the calories.

California have just proposed Pay per mile tax, Insurance companies already do it. You can look forward to automatic speeding fines via eCall etc.

Sorry Mail is right to be sceptical, 'the road to hell is paid for via good intentions'?

Think eCall itself is a brilliant concept, its just the likelihood that the rest of them will stick their hand out.
