I think it's all a bit silly TBH. If you want a great driving experience then you are probably better off getting into motorsport proper than spending an extra £50k on the "performance" version of a family saloon and sitting in a traffic jam. It requires a bit of a time commitment but financially I think you probably end up better off as well. Something like club level rallying needn't cost an arm and a leg.
I blame motoring journalists. While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'Comment

There isn't any difference at all, it's all the same parts bin, Audi uses it too - the same petrol engine as the Golf GTI (and it's a corkerOriginally posted by NorthWestPerm2Contr View PostAll I meant was what's the difference between getting that and a VW? ) is in the Octavia VRS, or you can get a fast diesel version too. I would go for the petrol. in both saloon and estate.
Hard Brexit now!

It's a 1960s Fiat 600 Multipla, indeed a most attractive choice, able to carry five adults in comfort at over fifty miles per hour!Originally posted by Pogle View PostThat’s so cute! - like the automobile equivalent of a guinea pig

For his budget he could get a 1 year old, low mileage, SKODA approved car with 2 years warranty left.Originally posted by eek View Post
With that sort of budget that's what I would go for.
I spent slightly more on a 1-year old 3 series tourer but regret it - I resent paying north of £500 for a normal service and hundreds for all the small bits that need replacingHard Brexit now!

Much better looking than the new Multipla's, which look like Joey Deacon's car.Originally posted by Mich the Tester View PostIt's a 1960s Fiat 600 Multipla, indeed a most attractive choice, able to carry five adults in comfort at over fifty miles per hour!

one advantage of Mini's is that I'm not subjected to their standard service rates until 80,000 miles....Originally posted by sasguru View PostFor his budget he could get a 1 year old, low mileage, SKODA approved car with 2 years warranty left.
