I would be using it throughout the week anyway for my long commute...... + don't forget the resale values.
So what is your wife using during the week. Think this through, get something practical for her and something fun for yourself as otherwise you are buying two cars where neither meet the required need.

In my case: Mrs Eek Zafira (her choice)
me Mini (my choice) only restriction was the ability to transport 2 children in dire emergencies) and a very short additional parking bay I can call my own.

Or you can get a proper fast and practical Q-car, with low costs: Octavia VRS.
See, I told you you were shallow.
will have a look at that car... It's a VW at the end of the day though.

          Do they come in estate?

Wow, how things have changed in the last 15 years. It's gone from "What do you call a Skoda with a sunroof?" to "It's a VW at the end of the day though".

I would agree that the Skoda is a great car. I looked at getting one when I replaced my car last year, unfortunately the new model had just come out, and I don't buy brand new cars. Probably some great deals on those cars now.

So you admit you are shallow and the badge means a lot to you?
Well that's fine but don't ask for low cost of ownership then.
BMW/Audi/Merc will gouge you out of every penny for services and parts.
Which is fair enough - all brand-obsessed fashion-victims deserve getting fleeced.

All I meant was what's the difference between getting that and a VW? Not that there is anything wrong with a VW Passat for example....

                      Honda CR-V?

I think you can get a sporty version.
