Getting back to the point, the MW study came up with this figure of a £3K deficit (which it based only on EU immigrants ) because of assumptions that they have more children and claim more housing benefit as they are disproportionately based in the South of England.
That may be true, but if they claim less unemployment benefit and pensions and healthcare because they are younger (at least at the current snapshot of time) then it would seem the indigenous population may have a higher deficit.
    Hard Brexit now!

so if they were truly temporary migrants that have to leave before they get old or sick then they would probably be a net benefit?

What about displacement of existing workers? Yes I know 'all the benefit claimants are just lazy' but it seems to fly in the face of history and I suspect it has more to do with the benefits paid.

If there was no unemployment then you could regard the import of lowly paid migrants a positive thing, I would prefer to empty the benefit office into work and keep the young & old in jobs.

There are some ONS statistics that migrants have more children.

That depends largely on whether they have gained access to long term benefits or state pensions before they get old or sick, and that access is given because they pay contributions into the system while they work.

I wonder if there was all this broohaha back in the 50's:

Bedford has the highest concentration of Italian immigrants in the UK, with Peterborough. This is mainly as a result of labour recruitment in the 1950s by the London Brick Company in the southern Italian regions of Puglia and Campania.
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.
