The latter is AFAIK still the case.
not sure what strikes & productivity have to do with the unemployed being lazy?

but post war till the 70s we had near full employment ~98%.

There is or was a general culture of laziness in Britain - I think it's fair to say that.
There's no point having full employment if not much of any good is produced. In fact it proves my point of low productivity.
British Leyland, the shipbuilding industries, mining - all full of restrictive practices and funny rules.
That's why Thatcher did what she did.
Now those same people who would be employed not doing very much are paid to stay home
      Hard Brexit now!

How dare you insult me like that? You are pathetic troll who should not be allowed outside of Daily Wail blog!
If UKIP are the answer, then it must have been a very stupid question.

Britain up to the 70s had 'full employment' in pretty much the same way as the GDR had 'full employment'.
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014

It's not an insult, more like plain fact based on your posts.

I did not know that hurling cretinous insults on Polish people is a time honoured English custom, but since you say so ....

It's their children who sit in their council houses, drinking lager, watching their plasmas and moaning about immigrants, innit?
