Have you heard of Lazy portfolios? Simple to setup and manage and decent return long term. I have my excess money in a coffeehouse portfolio.

It's a bit disappointing really. 10k handed over, mortgage repayments reduced by... £40 a month.

Maybe I should have reduced the payment term rather than the monthly payments, that would be the best way to minimise the total amount I pay over the life of the mortgage? I'll get the opportunity to overpay another £10k later in the year so will probably do that then.

            woah mortgage north of £200k...

Give me the 10k and tomorrow I'll give you 11k.

I way to reduce your mortgage significantly is to downsize to the smallest house possible. Most people have way more space than they need, rooms they never use etc. I reduced mine by 100k doing this, now its below 90k total.

Actually under £200k but you're in the right ballpark. This is why I want to overpay as much as possible before our 2-year fixed mortgage expires and the interest rates have gone up

It's actually not a giant house, just an expensive area in an expensive town and I also WFH so I need extra space.

In a similar situation a few years ago myself, keep at it.
