Shame that only some train companies offer reserved seats. Mine doesn't:

SW Trains don’t do reserved seats and if you travel from and intermediate station there is no chance of a seat at peak times. SW Trains also had a £20,000,000 grant from HM Gov to add more seating to trains, that was five years ago but nothing was done.

Weird thing is a day return is £200. Bargain,eh? But a 7 day season ticket is only £322 (inc tube pass).
Not sure if daily like this is going to do my chunk so maybe staying over a night or two would be the plan. But, of course, with train ticket paid for its extra cost (but maybe worth it for my sanity!).

I guess a lot though depends on what the train is like. If its packed out, sweaty and smelly it aint gonna be nice. 1st class would be nice but thats another £300 lol.

Most offer your money back if you have a first class ticket and there is no seat - I used to regularly get the fare refunded from Virgin because the leg from Stafford to Birmingham usually had standing room only.

I've got a holiday next week, then just 4 weeks left on the contract, so I think I'll try to tough it out in cattle class. I can normally get a seat, just squished into a tiny space next to / between stinky, sweaty, farty, fat buggers.

So theoretically you can reserve the same seat every day? Not so bad then. Would be nice if you could choose not to have someone sitting by you too!
