Ah, that's it! It's Sasguru's old car! That would explain why it's so slow; it's never had enough petrol flowing through it to keep the injectors clean and he's spilt his Bristol Cream into the workings, slowing everything down with stickiness.

Not really the point though is it... for £3k you could pick up a 2nd hand small car.

But complaining an Aygo isn't as good as a 500 is like complaining Tesco Value Camembert isn't as nice as stuff from a French market... the 500 is a top-end premium small car, like the Mini. It's the iPad of small cars.

Then a second hand 500 would be a better option for those who can only afford an Aygo.

Wouldn't say its quite up there with the mini and the Audi A1. The gear stick is rather cheap.

If it's second hand you will have MOT, will be out of warranty and will start to see bits falling off.

500 is for rich people who want a (second) small car. Aygo is for regular folk who just need a cheap reliable car rather than comfort and sophistication.

An Aygo is still miles better than the cheap small cars from a decade or two ago, the old boxy Fiesta for example. It does a job, just like own-brand supermarket mince.

I had a micra 1.0 twenty years ago, and it was 10 years old when I got it. it was better than this Aygo.

Why a small car for £3k? I bought a 2002 Saab 93 SE Cabriolet for that as a stopgap a year or so ago (£2995 actually) It was a one owner car with a full 10 year service history from its Saab dealer and 80k on the clock. Its been a bloody fantastic car and will continue to be so at least for another 100k or more. in that time I have added just under 30k to the clock and it has only cost me the tires and a new exhaust.
