Are we (ltd co. contractors) 'agency workers' ?

Personally I find the term annoying. Makes me sound like a temp.
I'm a consultant. My company is the vendor of specialist services for clients who are willing to pay for them.
    This is b2b.
While my primary motivation is profit for my Ltd, as a small and ethical consultancy I ensure client co's interests are also well served (which leads to repeat business hopefully).

Lets be honest most contractors are temps.

You are offering training, or you work at home, in your own office or you really go in and do consulting, fair enough. But most go in sit on a seat and get told what to do.
    I'm alright Jack

If it's a long term contract, then they'd be highly paid permies, rather than temps.

No wonder HMRC is after you lot with IR35.
i for one don't see any difference between Deloitte sending someone to their client or MyCo sending me onsite. MyCo might as well send someone else who's suitably qualified.
does anyone concur with me any more or has everyone else gone umbrella?

Our title doesn't determine how good we are, our rate does.

For £££ you can call me Susan if you like ;p

Yes yes that's what you tell HMRC. Well done. The fact you wouldn't be running through a Ltd if our local laws didn't make it a near-requirement is obviously irrelevant.

Though one of the advantages of using contractors over user bigco consultancies, is that with contractors, the interests of the client are more closely aligned with the worker. Bigco consultants are primarily interested in keeping their employer happy - not the client.

Contractors are the lifeblood of the economy, provided they are allowed to circulate freely. Whether or not they are wrapped up in Ltds is largely irrelevant. As for the term, "agency workers," it is misleading and demeaning to apply it to any true professional.

Excellent! So like Deloitte, you contract direct and don't need a 2 bit agency to find you work?

                    Thought not.
