In fact, most places with a well known RU club are OK. That's why Orrell died; no place for RU in a tuliphole like Wigan.

2) It's far from a tuliphole - The village I live in boasts not to have a single council owned property in it - not many towns can say that.

Actually Orrell went tits up thanks to Dave Whelan first 'investing' in the club and then chucking them out of their ground.

I'd go for Altrincham or Knutsford. Certainly no nearer Warrington than that.

Appleton n Lymm in Warrington are just fine
Frodsham which is 1 junction down the m56 - nice market town.
Chester is only 25 minutes away - and there are some nice areas there..

Runcorn - the old town is not bad - only go to the new town if you want hookers/drugs/to get mugged

Forget any of the Manchester based ones - nightmare traffic - if you want a night in Manchester the other places are between 40 mins and and hour away by train.

I work away from home a lot.
I dont want to be travelling a long distance every week and have a daily commute on tip of that.
I try and stay a close as i can to clientco.

The m60 and m62 are bloody awful during rush hour, so personally I would avoid.
I'm sure Warrington has nice bits.

Well, you wouldn't go there for your holidays, but it is far from being the caricature 'grim oop north' sort of place.

Just the odd estate to avoid, just like any other big town - north or south.

Like I said, if you've ever been to Reading, it's a bit like that...just one size smaller.

I don't think Reading exists just to house the Scouse and Manc's that their respective cities don't want. Only thing Manc and Scouse land agreed on was to build Warrington to keep em away.

Not 100% accurate on this point. We all know union never stood a chance in the Wigan area.

Well, Warrington was already a biggish town when Liverpool was just a fishing village. That's why old Cromwell knocked it about a bit.

It's - well - ok. I was born and bred there, so maybe I'm biased, but I would rather live there than say Reading or Portsmouth.

It's just so handy for everything. Two airports, Pendolino rocket trains to Euston, and three motorways off in all directions. If you're talking about a working base rather than a holiday home, then it has quite a lot going for it. The natives are OK too. Standard bl***y Northerners. Local accent is 'North', but not undecypherable - think Chris Evans on Radio 2, who is a native.
