All these places have good motorway links to warrington:

Salford Quays - Really nice area to live and right next to motorway which takes you direct to Warrington, cheap rental.

Sale - Next to M60 and middle class area, good tram links, ok prices for rental.

Sharston - close to M56 and cheap rentals (£500/month easily)

As for Wilmslow/Alderley Edge, they are far from everywhere and transport links not that good unless you want to use train.

We have placed contractor to work in Warrington. he wants to live somewhere that is commutable and close to Manchester and doesnt want to be stuck in the middle of nowhere are Wilmslow and Alderley Edge the best places?
