It's good that people are trying to lose weight, once you lose it it's trying to keep it off.

Just trying to point out the differences in attitude between the Dutch and English.

They don't care over here about diets. Most people are active or involved in some sport, hell they cycle everywhere for a start

In the office I worked in London, it seemed all the men and women were either on a diet or just off one. Even going to a sandwich shop/cafe, everywhere seems to have calorie and fat indicators. On beers and wine you have an indication of how many units it contains.

Everyone I spoke to could tell you how many calories are in their coffees and teas, and if they even dared treat themselves exactly how many calories were in that tiny square of chocolate they just had.

Not that the Dutch are the healtiest of eaters, some of the deep fried cr@p they serve is appaling, but there's a hell of a lot less prevalance of convenience food.

i've been exercising on cross-trainer every day (30 to 60 mins) since november. i've only missed a few days here and there. i've changed my eating and drinking habits; less alcohol, snacking on fruit & nuts, smaller food portions... i've lost 1 stone. still got more to lose but getting there. actually, it's not about losing weight for me as much as gaining fitness. previously i did virtually no exercise and would have scorned such a thing but now i enjoy it. habit making is the key into making a lifestyle adjustment and i think if i am still running in november it will be a permanent fixture and a real lifestyle change.

Whew! Another 1lb gone. This one has taken quite a while mind you. Still, 31 gone since the end of October, so 2/3 of the way to my target!!

          Level this week, no loss.

I was thinking something similar yesterday, I popped into a local newsagent type shop to buy a bottle of water and a snack, all they had was wall to wall chocolate bars and crisps and a couple of pasties and samosas.

Having said that in Germany I often used to tuck into a butterbrezn which is literally a large salty pretzel with thin slices of butter in it. Delicious.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

                Well done.

I fell off the fast food and beer wagon two weeks ago when work got too busy. Must try again.

I was just thinking the same thing. Got my bike back yesterday from the shop and I'm just heading out for some off roading. Was planning to do the canal to London at some point if you fancy it?
