But unlike a car, the boat will hold its value. Depends on the kind of boat too, and how you use it. Racing wears everything out fast, pottering around in the Med less so.

Considering I've done a lot of sailing and my parents own a yacht, yes. They bought one for about £30k and sold it for darn near the same a decade later. Try that with a 2nd-hand car.
