Hiroshima was attacked on the 6th, so up until that point the mayor's of any Japanese cities would not have been desperately concerned about Atom bombs. I suspect they were a bit worried after that date though.

My dad used to call them nips.

            The Japs, not management.

Being what they are. Japs that is, not management, who are generally sons of bitches.

When I was a kid, the father of a lad who lived near me fought the nips in the war.

All this lad ever wanted to play was war, and if there weren't enough kids to play that, he'd hole himself up in the woods nearby to ambush japs if they came past. I last saw him when I was about 11. Perhaps he's still there.

                  At that time, Elstree.

Borehamwood actually, but Elstree sounds posher.

Not many nips in either of them.
