Anyway short of visiting every petrol station I pass to make sure its always topped up, and phoning ahead to petrol stations that should be open, but somehow close for no apparent reason, I think the AA screwed me, and I will get my money back somehow.

Just make sure you have enough in your tank for where you're going, just in case like.

Well done on affording the BMW though, a lot of ladies must automatically want to ride you now.

But surely they weren't random strangers to your wifes friend.

You should have just asked - people would have laughed at you for being an ejit but you wouldn't have felt like the AA shagged you up the ass for the callout fee.
