    Very nice summary.

      THREAD CLOSED!

      I don't think so!

Of course it was your fault. Who else's fault could it be? (Except for perhaps the driving examiner.)

You were left in charge of a motorised vehicle worth thousands of pounds, and responsible for at least one passenger, and through your own admitted negligence resulted in a situation whereby you were stranded.

The only real victim here was your passenger.

No wonder the U.K. is in the state it is, everyone just accepts being ripped off.

The issue isn't who's fault it was, people make mistakes, its whether that means you can add arbitrary charges, because the person is stranded.

What puzzles me about the whole story, is that he had his wife with him. Whats the point in having one along and then not sending her for petrol ?? She could have walked it in about three hours, and you could have saved a hundred quid

Can you afford a good quality lawyer? 'Cos you can bet the AA can!

Are you quite sure they didn't actually say "Get lost"?

So the party was a party at the house of a friend of your wifes?

So your wifes friend wasn't willing to ask anyone else? Or your wife wasn't willing to ask? Or all 3 of ye?
