Find out this week.
Just spoken to them - we're all very keen, so let's see if we can get together for another chat (more formal). Will get back to me early next week.

I'm just getting rather frustrated by the whole process now. Started this on November 13 with a couple of emails and a chat about the job. Then had to wait a week for someone to come back from holiday. Then waited for another week. Then met up with management on Tuesday - chatted through the job, what I wanted to do, what I was happy with etc. Two hours later - looking good, will call you in the next couple of days.
Now, we're still at the start really and they want to get together formally (so what was this week?!?!?) and discuss further. So, will wait for them to make a decision on when they can make it, and might know by Wednesday / Thursday when they are available. Then will have to go and see them somewhere (not sure where). Then will have to wait for a decision.
And at the same time, they keep telling me how busy they are, how they need to get someone in ASAP, and what a good fit they think I would be.

"Doctor, Doctor. Can you recommend something for insomnia?"
"I sure can. Nine months on the bench and a Corporation Tax bill you can't pay."
Note for the future and for any benchees: pay your tax as soon as you are benched; do NOT live off it. Having no money is not as bad as having no money and a tax bill.
Hmm. I wonder if the government is still doing that "deferred tax payment" scheme, or whatever it was called? My all-time favourite Dilbert cartoon, this is: BTW, a Dumpster is a brand of skip, I think.Comment

So have you been paying yourself salary or declaring dividends that you shouldn't have?
I know that is no help to you and only a contract can save you now but is a lesson for others. Don't do it kids.Comment

The Missus got up and we went through the paperwork and came up with a plan for the next few days that will keep the Companies House wolf from the door. (I have had some scary letters too...)
When contracting's going good, it's great. When it's not... even a tulip farm won't be a valid Plan B.My all-time favourite Dilbert cartoon, this is: BTW, a Dumpster is a brand of skip, I think.Comment
