If only I could get that message across to everyone.
    Steady on there!

Careless talk a̶d̶d̶s̶ t̶o̶ t̶h̶e̶ c̶o̶m̶p̶e̶t̶i̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ costs lives. Things are tough enough out there without everyone utilising the same tricks.

Once agents have the 3 CVs they need they stop looking. It is not the best 3 CVs they forward, it is the first 3 that match. You need to be in those first 3
This is bad enough, but then they utilise cv blocking techniques to make sure other candidates (who may in fact be the best for the role) don't get their cv forwarded. They'll lie and tell you "yes I've put you forward" and do their best to make sure you don't apply via other routes.

I'm tempted to use a biblical quote here, but then I'd probably be locked up. Besides which I'm too tired to fight against all this...

I've got a place at an AGI event about cloud computing and virtual supercomputers this evening in Manchester. We bought the train tickets (with seat reservation of course) weeks ago and everything. I've really been looking forward to this presentation.

16:30, the train is, according to my diary.

So I have just dug out the paperwork...

The event starts at 16:30. The train tickets are valid for a 13:27 train.

        Oh, **** it.

A new record in delayed response: I applied for a gig advertised on 19/07/2009. I have just had an update that the roles have been put on hold until the New Year. Four months for an update!

I couldn't sleep because I got up at 10:30 yesterday. Then I had a nap in the evening 'cos I was bored.

I got up at 10:30 yesterday 'cos I was drinking until dawn on Sunday night.

At about 8 a.m. today I made a cooked breakfast. That was nice.

And now I'm sat here with the biscuit tin and a mug of cocoa. In my dressing gown.

It's grey and miserable and rainy outside and I've nowhere to go anyway.

I'm doing my job searches on my desktop while drivelling away on here.

Oh, the excitement of it all.

I was going to get in the shower, then dressed but then I read the post about the national debt. That cheered me up. Not. And a 0.1% increase in one day on Jobstats when every other day last month was a decrease is not a positive sign, either.

                    Happy days.
So I take it you've never tried volunteering...or gasp! actually looking for work yourself - like a real business?
