That’s very sad Fishface, some friends of ours had a miscarriage last year and they were devastated, only a few weeks ago she gave birth to a perfectly healthy boy and the labour only lasted 80 minutes!

Hope things go well for you in the future.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Well, as I'm currently on the earth I would've thought that was the same thing.

It is very harsh when it does happen. Research suggests that as many as 30% of pregnancies miscarry within the first 12 weeks, many of these within the first four to eight weeks, when it is commonly mistaken for a particularly heavy or late period. My mate is a medical researcher in the field and the latest thinking is that this is a natural mechanism whereby the body rejects foetuses that have severe genetic defects or would have little chance of survival. Some women console themselves with this thought but it makes it no less harsh.

It's all theoretical anyway - they doctored Google Earth to airbrush the 4 elephants and the turtle out.

that is tough ff. miscarriage does indeed happen a lot. i recall both of our pregnancies being fraught with stress about wellfare of the unborn and the mother - desperate a&e trips and the like. fingers crossed for you both for the next time.

Only if you believe in the multi-turtleverse theory - In some dimensions it's a common tortoise with 4 rhinos - Zeity should be able to confirm.

Do you know if it's a boy or a girl yet? Can they tell so early?
It's too early to tell. They might be able to do it in 2 months when we go for our 20 week scan. That is when they do a detailed scan and check things like lungs, kidneys, arms and legs are forming correctly. They now charge you to find out the sex it costs £50 at our hospital and even then they say it's no gauruntee.

We don't want to know the sex anyway.
