I've got a 6 week old and my Mrs had two miscarriages between this baby and our first one. Luckily we managed to get pregnant again quickly each time plus it's probably a lot easier to handle when you've got kids already. It is common and I don't think it means there is anything wrong, it's just natures way of picking out the good ones. Once you reach 12 weeks the baby is fully formed and your chances increase significantly. Good luck !

Hi Fish Face really sorry to hear about your newsOriginally posted by Fishface View Postcongratulations - hope all goes well - you are truely blessed if it does.
My missus just had a miscarriage - its really harsh when that happens or why it happens
and its more common than people realise.
best of luck
Although i have never experienced i can just imagine how bad it must feel. We spent the last 12 weeks (and i suppose it's still not fully safe) thinking whether or not Mrs would miscarriage....just thinking about it is bad enough and puts strain on the both of us let alone going through what you are. Our friend had a miscarriage first time round and just gave birth to a healthy little boy. Good luck for future attempts.

It's too early to tell. They might be able to do it in 2 months when we go for our 20 week scan. That is when they do a detailed scan and check things like lungs, kidneys, arms and legs are forming correctly. They now charge you to find out the sex it costs £50 at our hospital and even then they say it's no gauruntee.Originally posted by realityhack View PostCongratulations!!!

Do you know if it's a boy or a girl yet? Can they tell so early?
We don't want to know the sex anyway.

Only if you believe in the multi-turtleverse theory - In some dimensions it's a common tortoise with 4 rhinos - Zeity should be able to confirm.

that is tough ff. miscarriage does indeed happen a lot. i recall both of our pregnancies being fraught with stress about wellfare of the unborn and the mother - desperate a&e trips and the like. fingers crossed for you both for the next time.Originally posted by Fishface View Postcongratulations - hope all goes well - you are truely blessed if it does.

It's all theoretical anyway - they doctored Google Earth to airbrush the 4 elephants and the turtle out.

It is very harsh when it does happen. Research suggests that as many as 30% of pregnancies miscarry within the first 12 weeks, many of these within the first four to eight weeks, when it is commonly mistaken for a particularly heavy or late period. My mate is a medical researcher in the field and the latest thinking is that this is a natural mechanism whereby the body rejects foetuses that have severe genetic defects or would have little chance of survival. Some women console themselves with this thought but it makes it no less harsh.Originally posted by Fishface View Postcongratulations - hope all goes well - you are truely blessed if it does.

That’s very sad Fishface, some friends of ours had a miscarriage last year and they were devastated, only a few weeks ago she gave birth to a perfectly healthy boy and the labour only lasted 80 minutes!Originally posted by Fishface View Postcongratulations - hope all goes well - you are truely blessed if it does.

Congratulations.
When your wife has a baby everyone is really quick to give you advice, and I'm no different, except my advice is; ignore everyones' advice.
Every kid is different, their parents' experiences won't be same as yours, and most people revel in giving you the horror stories anyway.
Find your own way, and enjoy. It's the only worthwhile thing any of us do in our paltry "three score and ten" revolutions of the sun.
