While the existance of St George is debatable, that some bloke called Jesus existed stands on firmer ground than the existence of Julius Ceaser. Only Jesus was born, according to the available evidence, in October.

Talk to some secular historians and they'll tell you that few serious historians doubts the existence of Jesus. The miracles and resurrection and being the Son of God and the third person of the Trinity are of course matters of faith/opinion.

I did mean JC. A quick Google shows NAT is right, most historians agree that he did exist, yet I distinctly remember reading something a few years ago that said earliest references to him were over a hundred years later. Funny how "facts" change.

At least we know that Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer wasn't real. Or was he? Better Google.

Kinda kidding but often on chats about having the Union or St Georges flag flying someone will say it's only racists and BNP/UKIP supporters that do it. Patriotism isn't as much a thing here as it seems to be in every country so when you are someone in some comment will mention racists or something of that ilk so just having a play on that.

The St Georges flag has long been mired in controversy. Just google it. Loads of articles discussing it. People have been prosecuted for flying it and there are laws about it. There were changes to regulations as recently as 2012 about what flags you can fly when. This article nails the point I was jokingly making.

It’s a vexing question, or perhaps more a question of vexillology (the study of flags, don’t you know). But the simple answer is that being overly fond of the English or British flags these days marks you out as a certain type of person.
