Unfortunately Greene King are going to fold at the sniff of trouble for a couple of reasons.

Foremost is they are on the backfoot as their founder made his money from plantations and slavery around 1799 and the group publicly apologised for this in 2020.
So when someone then complained about one of their pubs called 'The Black Boy' they didn't really have a leg to stand on so were going to fold all day. They reneamed 3 or 4 other pubs at the same time but I dunno what they were but either way, they've been caught with their fingers in the jar so will be distancing themselves from those pub names as fast as possible.

They've still got that rep hanging over them and then someone brings up this pub then they are stuffed. No way are they going to argue the point bearing in mind the slavery links and name changes. Easier just to change it and move on until the next complaint and so on.

Interesting to note that in 2021 when the renamed the BB there were estimated to be 70 other pubs in the country called this and ones interviewed had no plans including JD Wetherspoon who you'd think would also be happy to fold, if not do it proactively.

Is it a shame The Midget is being re-named. Damn right it is. It's just how it is nowadays and will just keep going. I'm sure there will be another one along soon but at the end of the day, the pub gets renamed and life moves on. Kinda nice to see the push back on this one but how much good it will do will be interesting.

Anyway, it's Friday and just got a bit more to do before going down to the Rusty Trombone bar for a 'hot lunch'.. if you know you know.

The name of the pub was picked from a short list but the problem with the name was dwarfed by other issues such as abusive management belittling staff. Customers looked down on the staff and staff were not seen to stand up to the management.
