    But he's GERMAN

Are the far right Engerlanders really so upset that the manager of the mens national football team is GERMAN?
I mean, they didn't like Southgate (English) because he was "woke", and now Tommy Ten Names in a Suit is Daily Wailing about the nationality of the new manager.
As some wit rightly put it, a German has taken on an impossible job that no English person would do. A bit like being married to National Farrage.

I'm not much of a sports fan and I never get these appointments. I like playing sports but don't really follow any teams but I just don't get the whole foreign manager in an national team.. in any sport. Surely if it's the best England can put forward then surely everyone should be English? It's hardly representing the country with a German heading it up. The usual response I get is that the players are English so that is enough but it's not really is it? The manager is ultimately responsible. They get most of the accolades if the team win and they get the boot if they don't so could argue they are 'the team'. So why is it OK for the footballers to be English but the manager not? I guess someone will ask me how people at Man City are from Manchester and I'll go get my coat.

Totally turned off by this appointment tbh but I guess that's the way it's going to be.

England used to have Sven Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello, but I'm not sure either of them received back-page coverage where their nationality was put in upper case. But for some reason the former manager of Chelsea is a terrible choice.

Acceptable to have a German Royal family, but not a football manager ? When was the last time an English manager won a major football trophy ?

More importantly, what's a rabid leftie doing reading the wail?

The royals are a slightly different but still a good argument and my point falls apart again.

Christ knows but that's the way the cookie crumbles. If we can't turn out good footballers and good managers we don't win. I'd say something daft like 'if we can't win it on our own then so be it' but someone will point out some war or other perfectly good example of us not doing it on our own. Just irks me that's all.

The England Women’s team does quite well without the vitriol for having a foreign manager. Any thoughts on why that is?
