Preparing for Christmas - what are you plans?

Managed to locate a bottle of Calvados in my nearby booze shop and just bought a four pack of Guinness for my daughter - now everything is ready.

We're going oop North (to France) for a KFC chicken wings on Christmas Day. On Boxing Day the extended family is coming over - that's 2 in-laws, 3 kids and 3 grand-kids, plus a friend and her 2 kids.

We're having gammon, with roast potatoes, pureed swede with dill, roast carrots and sprouts. Followed by home-made Christmas pud and brandy butter.

Currently the booze is in our outdoor fridge - aka, the garden.

Down to Mum's on Christmas Eve, which is my nephew's birthday. Christmas Day will just be the two of us. Boxing day we have a family meal out at a local pub. Heading home on the 27th.

On our own this year, which is a mixed blessing. Quite nice to be able to spend the day without worrying about others, but since the main oven has died and spares delivery has been an abject failure so far, Lunch has been edited down somewhat.

More annoyingly our expensive fresh turkey will have to be frozen, probably until Easter since it won't fit our secondary oven.

Even more annoyingly, we have a new oven sat in the garage, bought for our upcoming kitchen refresh - but where will be find an electrician to fit it this side of January - by which time we may as well wait for the kitchen to be done.

And I have a nasty feeling I've bought the management the wrong perfume....

Just in case - you can roast a turkey on a bbq.

We're quite lucky in that the main event for the in-laws is Christmas Eve. It's just with the grandkids being little, their parents just want to rest on Christmas Day after an evening with the Swiss. I recall my son telling me about cracking open another bottle at 2am...

Little get together with next door neighbours tomorrow morning, street party in evening if I can be a*d to go, Xmouse day sort of group lunch with loony lady 1 and others. Probably mostly old farts.

PS I did remember to buy some Xmouse pudding, all that really matters.

We're all going to my sister's - except our father died last Sunday and our mother last July, so "all" ain't what it used to be
