    Anyone moving to Threads?

I see Facebook, sorry Meta are now going into competition with Twitter. Anyone, going to move to it from Twitter or even try it out?

Sorry, it's a Guardian article but I have read in several other sources that Meta are creating a rival to Twitter, so I'm sure it's at least part factual.

We tried Threads, Meta’s new Twitter rival. Here’s what happened | Instagram | The Guardian

I'm not keen of shoveling any more data over to Zuckerberg. ****er gives me the creeps. YMMV, etc., etc...

No intention, not a fan of meta.

They need what, 18% of instagram to use threads to be the same user size as twitter? I think that's possible.

Influencers and the like I can see moving easily. The hard bit for threads will be the academics/journalist sort of users. They won't have a instagram base so will be starting afresh, which is the issue all twitter competitors had and why they fail.

I'm confused - Bluesky hasn't failed it's just starting up and slowly scaling things because otherwise stuff breaks.

The fact people think it's failed is because like Facebook in the early days they haven't been invited in yet..

Isn't threads currently only for iThings?

Development of Threads started Jan 2023 and in 6 months have done a full launch.

I didn't say any particular competitor has failed, just that they do fail because they aren't able to attract sufficient numbers.

I'm sure none of us will be bothered but everyone under 30 will be swarming to it like Bees around honey. Something new and potentially cool to waste their life on will be irresitable.
