    Paris burns

Hint to drivers please stop when a policeman points his gun at you!

Not going to end well except for builders.

In 2022, a record 13 deaths were recorded after refusals to stop for traffic controls. Five police officers have been charged in these cases.
What the actual ****! In one year French police executed 13 drivers for failing to stop?

The French police make some of our corrupt, institutionally racist, institutionally sexist and homophobic police forces look like amateurs.

I've long known French police weren't at the same level as other Western Europeans, but shooting someone because they failed to stop wouldn't even fly in Yankeeland.

True but we don't do thirteen every year.

2 weeks after 7/7 and day after failed bombing, in which he was wrongly ID'd as one of the bombers.

Massive **** up but clearly not intentional police brutality.

Police brutality or whatever you call it does happen but no one knows exactly what it is until the details come out. Details and context are absolutely everything and have to be looked at in every case. We don't have even the slightest what the real situation is here so impossible to say either way. For example, saying 'Im going to put a bullet in your skull' can be taken either as a direct threat of action and a pre-cursor to murder, or could just be a threat to de-escalate and the perp will think twice and de-escalate. Bit like when a policeman threatens to taser you. It's not because he wants to do it, it's because it may de-escalate and stop the current course of action.

One is cold blooded murder, the other is giving the perp the options to try take a better course. We don't know which it is in this case because we don't know the full details.

Was it a traffic stop and an innocent man got gunned down or was it highly dangerous criminal fleeing police and that was the only course of action to save further lives? We just don't know.

One thing that does sadden me is there will be no fair ruling due to media backlash and rioting. If the office did follow protocol and his actions could be deemed within this legal powers that's not gonna wash and they'll pick on every tiny detail looking to prosecute. If he yelled stop three times instead of the proper four he'll be tried for murder.

There is video of the incident. He has been charged with homicide and the President, the guy who relies heavily on the police atm, just called him out, which owuldn't be the case if he was some hardened 17 year old career criminal.

Sure when tulip happens we should wait for all the facts. Sometimes the facts immediately available speak for themselves.

But that's the whole problem with these situations. A video of one persons actions does not present the facts but does give people a 15 second snapshot to make their own opinions based on just what they see which is extremely damaging. It's exactly what I mean at the end. He will be judged on the outrage of a 15 second clip and not the offence which is exactly what has happened. The guy is screwed. I mean, if he did gun him down then he can rot in hell... but how do we know? Was he fleeing from an armed robbery after shooting at police? Or did he just not pull over fast enough for a traffic stop. You just don't know and one video doesn't present the true case.

Of course he's been charged and condemned. No way in hell he'll get put on admin leave and investigated while Paris burns.

Don't get me wrong, it looks bad and it's hard to disagree but I'd rather wait for the facts. Remember that lad that got shot in Huddersfield a couple of years ago. Bradford nearly kicked off again. Turns out he lives in a know drug den with 20 cctv cameras around and had a loaded gun in the glove compartment etc. Just waxing lyrical here, not defending the policeman just because he's a policeman.
