    Four days a week, please

    https://www.theguardian.com/society/...tended-success

If output is unchanged while input is reduced by 20% then doesn't that mean that there was a fundamental issue with baseline productivity?

If approximately the same amount of work could be done in 4 days as 5, why were people being paid for 5 days' work in the first place?

Scrapping the scheme should increase output by 25% without employing more resources.

A council is a poor baseline. I've worked at a council client and a majority of people were there to do the minimum and waiting for their pensions. Compare their output to a private sector and I'd be willing to bet their would be a huge disparity before implementing anything like this. Doing significantly less per day than most in the private sector in 4 days than 5 is hardly a win for anyone.

88% of council staff wanted to continue a 4 day week. No tulip sherlock.

Where I'm sure some levels will manage equivalent output in 4 days a vast majority of people that are just turning up to work for the pay packet won't. And even if it does work in the short term it won't be long before it becomes the new norm and productivity decreases back to the same per day during 5 days so there will be 20% less work done.

It's like the WFH. It will work for certain groups but many others will just wag it and do less. There isn't a one size fits all because people's motivations are different.

I'm sure that when working days went down from 6 days a week to 5, similar arguments were made. Yet here we are.

Interesting that the nay sayers don't propose a 6 (or 7) day working week.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

Usain Bolt ran 100m in a bit under 10s, so clearly he could've target a marathon time of 1hr 10minutes.

If it takes 9 months for a woman to have a baby, how long will it take 9 women?

Sorry but it doesn't matter how many women you put together, they aren't getting pregnant.
