I suppose it's a novelty for our armed forces to act as Border Force.

I wonder if they are allowed to put it on their CVs when they leave....

My daughter flew into Gatwick on the 27th. She had no choice but the early flight so was prepared for the six hours to wait before boarding her train (trains started running again at 13:00). But you would have thought Gatwick weren't aware of the plane strike. Or the possibility there could be a whole bunch of foreigners flying in who had no idea there was a rail strike on. It was all rather chaotic.

The UK government could not organise a piss up in a brewery unless it was illegal to have one, so do you really expect better?

I'm in a bad mood as I had to take a train today and had to go a convoluted route due to "Sunday timetables" They are definitely not Sunday timetables as whole train routes were missing from the schedule.

It’s one of the two periods where it’s possible to close routes down for long running (4-7 day) engineering works.

York station is currently being repaired and slightly redesigned

No long running engineering works. They just don't have enough staff thanks to the overtime bans between the strikes.
