    Do you close often?

    https://www.independent.co.uk/busine...-b2166228.html

Apparently they have backtracked on some of it. Those already on site can stay. But if you were due to arrive on the Monday they are closed.

But wow, how to ruin your business. Who would go back. Personally I would never go to centre parcs.

When I first saw the reports I thought it was a joke.

Earlier on Tuesday the holiday company had announced that guests at its five UK parks would have to leave by 10am on Monday, even if they are in the middle of their stay, and will not be able to return until the same time on Tuesday morning.

The company said in a statement it had made the decision “as a mark of respect and to allow as many of our colleagues as possible to be part of this historic moment”. It added: “We hope our guests will understand our decision to support our Queen on her final journey.”

The decision meant that any guests who were in the middle of their holiday on Monday would have to spend the night elsewhere, or otherwise go home early. Center Parcs told holidaymakers on social media that while they would have to vacate the park overnight, they could leave their belongings in their accommodation.

    It's a bloody ludicrous situation.

Anyone would think that we're still in the 19th Century.

So you book a holiday and then get told you can't be here on Monday because of a funeral?

Were they expecting people to leave on Sunday and not return until Tuesday?

What idiot in HQ dreamt that up, I hope they've been sacked.

Couldn't make it up. One thing if you prevent check-ins on the day (though still a PITA) and close all the facilities but telling people staying over the weekend they have to get out and return is farcical.

I saw this the other day on twatter. I can't tell if it was seriously put up or someone just having a jape.

King Charles hands out redundancy notices. (Well not personally).
A few dozen employees of the royal Prince of Wales residence in Westminster have been given redundancy notices during the church service for the Queen
Almost 100 employees working at the royal residence of Clarence House for King Charles III when he was the Prince of Wales have been told they could lose their jobs.

The timing was poor and insensitive. Sadly you can't expect two households to merge and there not be a knock on impact. I believe it's announcing a consultation period that will start after the funeral. There'll be accusations of wasting tax payer's money if they don't deal with what is now an overstaffing issue relatively swiftly.

They said they were advised to give the warning as soon as possible but clearly someone a bit daft on that.

Just seen McDonalds is going to shut Monday - it's actually notable how many places are (B&Q etc) who would normally be open on bank holidays these days. A reminder of what it was like a decade or two back I suppose, when everything bar pubs was shut on Sunday/Bank Holiday?

Don't we all do this every time our contracts come to an end?

Who's that bloke complaining in prof forums that he's had a succession of 3 monthers? His butler must be on anxiety pills by now.
