RAF - ''offers to white men are paused to meet diversity targets"

RAF jobs boss quits amid claims 'offers to white men are paused to meet diversity targets'

    Article here and here...

It appears that this isn't a *new* thing - West Midlands Fire and Rescue...

I thought SE would be all over this like a dose of the plague...

Why is that a bad thing?

The RAF is a meritocracy, they can afford to pick "the best of the best" to fill their roles. By removing the largest section of society that are willing to apply for those roles you are reducing the possibility of finding the "best person for the job" and settling for the best you can find.

Would you rather have the possibility of a sub-par candidate helping to defend you in a war than the best person for the job?

Agree with Zigenare. There may be some exceptions, more ethnics in the police may improve trust for example, but generally selection should be based on individual merit.

There are ethnic differences in interests and strengths but as long as people are doing something useful it hardly matters that we have exact proportionality in every single field.

What it is, is that the RAF is institutional racist, and quotas are the only way of dealing with it. Apparently.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

Is that a fact or just your badly researched opinion?

Nah was busy doing something else.

The RAF are weird. They randomly get rid of staff including to other commonwealth air forces.

I'd rather have the best person for the job, not based on who they know or what school they went to.

Although, based on the government's own output, the RAF have been addressing the issue for over a decade, but the easily offended have only woken up to it now...

Yes, the RAF has been woke for quite a while - much to the detriment of the service.

Being awake to things doesn't make it bad, better than being asleep while a nation goose steps to the right.

Anyway, it can't be much of a problem, because some user posted recently:

So, a meritocracy that isn't just purely white males.
