It's about time we metricised computers. 8 bits to a byte, what sort of ridiculous old fashioned system is that

            But why base 10???
The only reason we use base is we have 10 digits.
Ignore the thumbs and octal is fine. And Octal works better when you only have 1s and 0s (not so well as binary but it's more human readable).

Bring back base 8.... I learned it at school before hex or binary.

It's not f***ing random like that chart.

              3 barleycorns to an inch
              12 inches to a foot
              3 foot to a yard
              1160 yards to a mile
              3 miles to 1 league

              4 farthings to 1 pence
              12 pence to a shilling
              20 shillings to a pound

              16 ounces to a pound
              14 pounds to a stone
              2 stones to a quarter
4 quarters to a hundred weight
20 hundred weights to a ton

It is just a load of random numbers.

We need to get rid of Arabic numbers as well.
Bring back Roman Numerals. If it was good enough for the Romans, we should use it. Oh, no, wait, the Romans were Italian, which means the were European.

We need a new numbering system.

As a side comment, is it interesting that Boris wants to water down the ministerial code so that sexual predators, liars, etc can keep their jobs as MPs and then Mark Francois suddenly comes out of hiding and starts doing interviews again.

Wait till they decide to sell petrol by the gallon again, and the faithful find out how much it costs (£7.41 a gallon round here). Time to buy shares in sign companies.

Contractor day rates in shillings per day would be interesting to see. Well probably farthings in my case
